Frequently Asked Questions.

What exactly is a zipline tour?
A Sky Tours Zipline tour is a guided trip through all nine of our ziplines. Think of it like a 9-hole golf course: All guests in a group (scheduled at a certain start time) begin on zipline No. 1 and progress through all 9 of our ziplines, with a bit of hiking on the wooded trails between some of the ziplines. Guests are always accompanied by 2 of our zipline guides ... one guide handles all of the gear and equipment at the launch point as you prepare to take off and the other guide helps you land safely. Our guides are always available to answer any questions you have about ziplining, as they offer you a safe and fun zipline experience.

How long does it take to complete the zipline tour?

Plan to spend approximately 2½ hours with us. The 9-zipline tour itself is approximately 2 hours in length, plus additional time for check-in, orientation, and set-up. Depending on the size of your group, completion time is subject to change.

What if I'm afraid of heights?

It's not uncommon to have a fear of heights; however, many people who do have a fear of heights still enjoy our zipline tour. Safety is our paramount priority:

  • You will be double-clipped to a ½-inch steel cable at all times when you're off the ground.
  • Our trained guides are certified and thoroughly educated in zipline course procedures.
  • Our trained guides will be with you throughout the entire course to answer your questions and provide support.

How high will I be off the ground?

During the tour, you will be anywhere from 0 feet to 70 feet above the ground.

What should I wear?

  • Footwear. Closed-toe shoes are required (such as tennis shoes, running shoes, hiking boots). No sandals or flipflops.

  • Clothing. Wear comfortable clothing as you will wear a harness the length of the trip. Short shorts are not recommended, as they are not comfortable while wearing your harness. Please avoid loose clothing (scarves, skirts, etc.). Dress for the weather forecasted. Since we do operate in the rain, be prepared.

  • Hair. Long hair needs to be tied back.

  • Jewelry. We strongly suggest that all jewelry and body piercings be removed.

Is there a waiver form?

Yes. All Sky Tours Zipline guests must complete and sign a waiver form before participating. Participants under the age of 18 must have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. If the guardian is not present, participants can bring a signed waiver. [To download a PDF copy of the waiver form for printing and signature, please click here.]

Can I bring a water bottle?
There's no need to bring your own water. Sky Tours provides bottled water at two locations along the zipline course to help keep guests hydrated.

What about personal possessions?

We will ask you to remove all things from your pockets, such as cell phones and wallets. You don’t want them falling out during the tour since it will be difficult to retrieve them. We can provide a secure place to store your valuables, but we prefer them left in your car or at home. Sky Tours is not responsible for property lost, damaged, or stolen during your tour.

Do you operate in the rain?

Yes, we operate in the rain. However, the course will be closed if management finds the weather unsafe for tours. If we know in advance that we will be closed, we will contact you at the contact number you provided to us when you booked your tour. If your tour is cancelled due to weather, you can either rebook for another time, or we will refund your tour cost.

How safe is it?

All adventure activities done above the ground carry certain inherent risks. We have taken numerous steps to mitigate these risks. Our course was built to meet, or exceed, PRCA (Professional Ropes Course Association) professional building standards. Our guides are professionally trained and our equipment is of very high quality. The course and equipment are inspected daily.

What if I've never done a zipline course before?

You'll be in good company: The majority of our guests have never done a zipline course before. And don’t worry…your guides will give you a complete orientation and training session before we take you on the course. Before leaving on each zipline, guides will check your gear before sending you off. Remember that your guides are there for your safety and fun. Feel free to ask questions at any time.

Do you have group rates?

Yes. We offer group rates for groups of eight(8) or more guests. (Groups may include youth groups, scouting groups, church groups, large families, and corporate outings.) Please contact us at skytourszipline@gmail.com or call 563.484.4248 for details and to book your reservation.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. When we book your tour, we also schedule guides and other support staff for your trip. If you cancel your reservation outside 24 hours prior to your tour date, your entire payment will be refunded to you.

[Transferability: Your tour reservation is transferable, so you can give it away or sell it if you choose.]

Will I be in a group with my friends/family?

We can take up to twelve(12) participants per tour. For the best chance to be in a group together, reserve your tour ahead of time. If you have a group of 12, or fewer, and have reserved a tour at the same date/time, you will zip together. If your group is larger, please contact us and we'll try to make special arrangements for your group.

Who can zip?

The zipline tour is designed for use by participants:

  • of average mobility and strength. There are three short hikes on the tour, one downhill and two uphill. It is approximately as challenging as climbing three flights of stairs.

  • who are in reasonably good health.

  • who weigh between 70 and 270 pounds.

  • who are ten years of age or older. Participants under the age of 18 must have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. If the guardian is not present, participants can bring a copy of the waiver that has been signed by their parent or guardian. [No children under the age of 10 or weighing less than 70 pounds will be allowed to participate in our zipline tour.]

Please call if you have any questions regarding participation requirements.

Can I zip if I'm pregnant?

Unfortunately not. Because the harness and lanyard create additional pressure on the abdominal area, zipping during pregnancy is not worth the risk. In fact, on our waiver form, under Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Indemnity Agreement, it specifically states in item No. 5: "I am not pregnant." [All guests are required to sign this Waiver Form before participating.]

Are there any health issues I should consider?

Guests with serious neck, back, or joint injuries or chronic heart problems should use their own discretion about their capabilities to safely participate in this activity. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that anyone who has had recent surgery, especially on ankles, knees or their back, not participate in this tour. Although we try to always make guests comfortable, both physically and mentally, some degree of impact on joints or some degree of anxiety about zipping is unavoidable. [If you have any health concerns, please speak with your healthcare professional before reserving a tour.]

What equipment will I wear on the course?

You will be fitted with a climbing harness, helmet, a lanyard with safety carabiners, and pulley. The equipment is very similar to rock climbing equipment, but specially designed for a zipline course.

When do I need to arrive for my tour?

We ask that guests arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. This will give you enough time to check-in, sign waivers, and prepare for your tour.
